There are many fun and informative things to see and do at Polaris besides getting to see your favourite author or actor up close. Check out our regularly scheduled programming or our special events pages to see what’s on!
Here is a brief summary of some of the things Polaris offers:
Our schedule is now online!
ART SHOW & AUCTION
The Polaris Art Show invites all science fiction and fantasy artists, professional and amateur alike, to display and sell their artwork during the convention. For the past 20 years, the Art Show has been organized by The Team Eh – a local group of art show volunteers with many years experience.
Start your Polaris weekend experiences off with a BLAST! The Polaris Blastoff Party is an exclusive event where a limited number of members get to mingle with all our multi-day guests. Actor guests, authors, science guests, and more who are with us for the entire weekend will attend the party. Come have a drink, get some munchies, and chat with our fabulous guests
Now in its second year, Cinema Polaris is back, just getting better and better. In cooperation with several fannish production companies, we are able to share a number of fan films and documentaries. Last year’s selections included “Horrible Turn”, “Browncoats: Redemption”, “Return of the Ghostbusters” and “The Hunt for Gollum”. Stay tuned for what this year will bring.
Now in its sixth year, The Constellation Awards celebrates and honours the actors, writers and technical artists behind the best of today’s science fiction film and TV works – with an added focus on Canadian contributions. The Constellations Awards is the only Canadian science fiction film and TV awards where you, the Canadian viewing public, get to select the nominees and winners in all categories.
FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY
Our popular Friday Night Party is back for Polaris 26. The end of the world? Just a date on the Mayan calendar? Or just a great reason for a party?
SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE
After the Masquerade ends on Saturday night, don’t turn into a pumpkin… Come dancing instead! The Saturday Night Dance is the place to be for a rocking good time.
The Geek-Offs are Polaris’ answer to the uberquestion: Who is the Geek to beat? We take several universes of Trivia, take their best and brightest, and then pit them against each other in a bloody no-holds-barred grudge match (but not really, because we have to mind the carpets). All for bragging rights and the certification approved by the Chairs that we have found the Geek-Off Champion for the year.
Beam up to the convention’s hospitality suite and take a break from it all. Located in suite 1086, we offer a place for all TCON members (human and alien) to relax, converse, watch videos and partake of complimentary snacks, pop or juice.
TEN FORWARD AFTER DARK
At 7:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday evenings, Ten-Forward will close for 30 minutes while the suite undergoes a metamorphosis to become Polaris’ members only official room party…
Suite 1091. Accessible to guests of the convention, volunteer, staff and panelists only.
Tired of singing to yourself in the shower? Klingon Karaoke is the place to be! And it’s not just for Klingons… Anybody with a song in their hearts can come give the Karaoke a try, in groups, or solo! Or just come watch your fellow science fiction fans as they warble and croon their way through classic tunes and modern hits.
The Polaris Masquerade is an amateur costume competition for costumes relating to categories of Anime/Manga, Media (e.g. Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, computer games, etc.), fantasy, science fiction, and any other related topics.
The Masquerade will take place on Saturday evening. Check the programme for the exact start time.

Z’AARX THE CHARITY AUCTION
Fun. Unique. Charitable.
The charity auction raises funds for Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto. Gilda’s Club Worldwide was founded in 1991, in memory of comedienne and Second City alumni Gilda Radner, who lost her life to ovarian cancer. Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto opened in 2001 and has been offering support to people touched by cancer ever since.
