Auction for Gilda's Club

  • Free and open to the public
  • Unique memorabilia, great prices, lots of laughs
  • Sunday 9am to 12pm
  • More than $100 000 raised over the years
  • For anyone not familiar with it, Gilda's Club Greater Toronto offers support for those touched by cancer. Gilda's Club Worldwide was founded in 1991, in memory of comedienne and Second City alumni Gilda Radner, who lost her life to ovarian cancer. Gilda's Club Greater Toronto opened in 2001 and has been offering support to people touched by with cancer ever since. If you would like more information on Gilda's Club, please visit them at www.gildasclubtoronto.org

3 ways to support Gilda's Club!

    1. Donate an item for auction

Throughout the year, the Charity Auction team works to locate autographed items and unique memorabilia for auction. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact us at charity@tcon.ca or come see us in the viewing room at Polaris 24.

    2. Visit us in the viewing room

The Charity Auction Viewing Room is open on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Stop by to check out the auction items, browse from our quick sale and dollar tables, and support your favourite superhero by making a $2 donation to Gilda's Club. (Cash only.)

    3. Come to the auction at 9 a.m. Sunday

We know 9 a.m. on Sunday seems really early. (We stay up late on Saturday too.) But it's worth it. Here are some reasons why:

  • It's a chance to score unique items you won't find anywhere else. Last year's auction featured Col. Tigh's boxer shorts signed by Michael Hogan, Vala Mal Doran's hair clip plus an autographed photo from Claudia Black, a package of hard-to-find swag from the hit Canadian TV series Flashpoint, and much more.
  • Sometimes you can get a fantastic deal. True, sometimes the bidding gets intense -- all the better for Gilda's Club. But if nobody else is interested in your dream item, you might get lucky and pick it up for less than you thought.
  • We can be bribed. Can't stay to the end of the auction? For a small additional donation to Gilda's Club, we'll move the items up to be auctioned next.
  • It's easy. Visions of Christie's and Sotheby's scaring you? Don't worry. No registration required, no numbered paddles, no need to stay motionless for fear of suddenly spending thousands. Just show up, sit down, enjoy the show, and wave if you want to bid on something.
  • It's fun. Our auctioneers are a riot, and the battle of the bids can get very exciting. So even if you don't plan to buy anything, bring your coffee and enjoy the show! (In the past, Polaris guests have sometimes shown up as well to help auction special items.)

And, of course, it's for a great cause.

    Ways to pay

In the viewing room, we only take cash.

At the auction, we take cash, debit, Visa, and MasterCard.
